DevCamps 2008 - Customization and Application Development Conferences

Last year we held our first DevCamps for AEC and Manufacturing customers & partners. Following on from their success, this year's events are fast approaching: this year we've added Geospatial into the mix, and are holding DevCamps through the month of June.

Manufacturing DevCamp
June 11-13, 2008
Portland, Oregon

Architecture, Engineering & Construction DevCamp
June 16-18, 2008
Wakefield, Massachusetts (near Boston)

Geospatial DevCamp
June 25-27, 2008
San Rafael, California (near San Francisco)

This is really a good opportunity to meet and get to know members of my team (DevTech) and Autodesk's engineering teams, as well as getting first-rate information on how to develop with Autodesk APIs.

For more information and links to the respective registration pages, go to http://www.autodesk.com/devcamp2008.

Do you know if the supporting materials (or even videos of the presentations) will be made available, either publicly or via the ADN?

I'd love to attend the Geospatial event, another excellent "Meet the Experts" session is a great idea and Robert Bray's Open Source keynote looks especially interesting.

Sadly a trip from the UK to San Rafael is unlikely to get funding, especially after I blew last years budget on AU07!

I'm presuming there won't be a series of UK event covering the same material but videos of sessions and support material for those of us that can't make it would be an excellent substitute.

  2. Chris -

Sorry but we are not planning to post the contents of the DevCamps on the ADN extranet. That said, 30-40% of the content of the DevCamps is taken from past API webinars that are already posted on the ADN extranet.

    That said...
If there is a specific class at one of the DevCamps you would like to see the content of (PPT, code samples, etc.), drop me an e-mail and I am sure we can arrange to get you the materials.

A large value in attending these DevCamps is getting up close and personal face time with Autodesk software engoineers, product managers and exec decision makers. Not something one can deliver "off-line".

Thanks very much for your response, I thought that might have been the case, sadly the things that I'd like to see are more the keynotes (including your own) which may not quite have the same impact as just a PPT etc.

I'd echo your sentiments though that the DevCamps, DevDays and TechCamps, not to mention AU I've been to before have been some of the most useful events I've ever attended, and not just for the classroom sessions, the up-close contact you describe is usually worth attending on its own!

It's just a shame it's not so easy for me to find the budget for another trip the US, I'll just have to catch up with you when you make it back to the next UK event, or see if I can make it to AU08 🙂

Hope everything goes well for this "tour" and I'll see you (both) soon.
