DevTV: Introductory recordings on Autodesk APIs

My team has been working very hard on some recordings of introductory presentations around our APIs. Here is the first batch of recordings we've just posted as part of our DevTV series (the idea being these are recordings that are "produced", while our webcast recordings are somewhat raw):

    OK - apparently not, but you should be able to use online convertors or SharpDevelop, of course.

    Thats the same erroneous assumption that was made about the SDK samples.

    There are 73 errors and warnings generated trying to build the converted solution.
    While some of these are similar errors they still require attending to.
    I'm sure that not everyone trying to learn from the samples would want to learn the idiosyncracies of VB just required to make the translation.

    Kerry,

    The presenter chose to use VB for this sample. I mostly choose C#, but have, on the odd occasional, chosen to use VB. The choice I make is to spend my time focusing on generating more content rather than spending time on conversion - I started off posting in both languages but soon found it too time-consuming.

    I would hope that the majority of readers would agree with this choice (as otherwise my output would reduce: there's simply no way around that).

    The online tools are generally pretty good. If you know the target environment (which you should, given that's the environment you're choosing to translate into), then you should be able to work out what else needs to be changed pretty quickly.

    And if you have trouble, let me know.

    Thanks for posting this info.

    We'll see what we can do to provide samples accompanying this type of training in multiple languages, in future (resources permitting).

    The timing of this particular one was bad, in a sense: with all the work we needed to do to prepare for AU it just wasn't something we could get to in the required timeframe.

    You can build the ArxDbg sample on the ObjectARX SDK - that's also a very handy tool.

    It seems you send the Inspector only by Email, so would you please send it to me also. It would be very helpful in the project i'm involved. (replace an old lisp tool for autocad 2005 to a brand new .Net tool for autocad 2009)

    There will be once VS 2008 is supported for ObjectARX development (not the case with any versions of AutoCAD shipping today).

    I'm exploring ObjectArx and saw your webcast about AutoCAD .NET programming. Just super!
    At this point an ADN membership is just overkill to what I'm doing. But I also would like the AsdkInspector tool. Is it possible to get a copy? It's a 'must have' tool to explore the drawing database, I guess.

    My copy of AsdkInspector2008.arx, when unloaded, causes acad to crash.
    The contents of acad.err file:

    FATAL ERROR: Runtime Extension Program '[path]AsdkInspector2008.arx'
    doesn't define function acrxEntryPoint.

    I have Vista 64bit when I try to install ObjARXWiz and ArxWizards.msi show me alert box. The ObjARXWiz and Vista are compatible?
