My First AutoCAD Plug-In

My First Plug-In TrainingHot on the heels of the Revit and Inventor installments in this series of guides (OK, OK – perhaps not exactly hot, but then "warm on the heels" doesn't have quite the same ring to it ;-), I'm happy to announce that the previously mentioned "My First AutoCAD Plug-in" guide is now available.

Stephen Preston, the author of this excellent guide, has done a great job of creating a compelling sample – which keeps your block attributes horizontal, irrespective of the block rotation – and a series of straightforward explanations to help power-users and programming "newbies" take the plunge into the world of AutoCAD programming.

Here's a quick video introducing the guide:

You can access this (so far still expanding) series of guides via autodesk.com/myfirstplugin.

  1. Awesome work guys! This is great for someone like me getting started with AutoCAD plug-ins.

  2. The "My First AutoCAD Plug-in Overview" points to "My First AutoCAD Plug-in: Introduction to Programming" so therefore I can't find the "Software to Install Prior to Starting" information. Don't know what else I'm missing. Can't use the tutorial because of this.

    1. I suggest emailing myfirstplugin@autodesk.com.

      1. Tried that. The email's dead.

        1. I'll let the concerned people know and pass on your request for support.

I realize this is a very old post... going to the web address of autodesk.com/myfirstplugin no longer works. Does anyone have a link that would work now in 2018?
