Join Autodesk Research as Visiting Scholar, Design for Human Experience

I mentioned some time ago that this announcement was coming: Autodesk Research has just posted our first two Visiting Scholar positions.A scholar visiting Autodesk Research

People who have been around Autodesk Research for some time will remember us having had Visiting Fellows, in the past: the focus of that program was slightly different; tending towards industry rather than academia, even if at least one Fellow did join us from a university. So the fact this is a "new" program might feel like a nuance to some.

Here's some context for the role:

Visiting Scholar positions invite brilliant minds to work with us to collectively identify bold new strategic research directions. At Autodesk, Visiting Scholars will have the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of industry-leading research, tackling real-world problems and pioneering solutions. Join us, and your innovations could shape the Autodesk products of tomorrow, making a lasting impact on the fields of design and construction.

The positions are:

  • Visiting Scholar, Design for Human Experience
  • Visiting Scholar, Intelligent Construction

As these are short-term assignments - we expect 6-9 months - they're not posted via normal channels: instructions on how to apply are in the blog announcement.

The position in my research team is the first one. Here's the description from the blog post:

What is the human experience of space? The Design for Human Experience scholar's goal is to democratize the pursuit of human-centric principles and insights in the built environment by developing innovative simulation tools for Autodesk software.

The complete job description is linked to from the announcement, as well as the email address to use to apply for the position.

We're already seeing a lot of interest in both positions. If you're interested in joining Autodesk Research for a limited period to work in either of these areas, please apply soon!
