  • As requested, Wayne has kindly provided transcripts for the recently posted (and now complete) series of DevTV sessions on AutoCAD .NET development. To recap, here are the posts for the various lessons: Introduction and Sessions Overview, Getting Started User Input Database Fundamentals Database Events, PaletteSet Dictionaries, Containers, Type Identification, Casting InputPoint Monitor Jigs User Interface elements Here are the scripts that Wayne used to record the material. Wayne created them as a guide for himself (and others – should we end up translating the material), rather than being a verbatim record of what Wayne ended up saying. Please forgive any…

  • Another Friday, another installment of Wayne Brill's AutoCAD .NET training DevTV series (to complement those from previous weeks). Today's session is focused on the ever-important feature when implementing user-input in your custom commands: Jigs. This series of DevTV sessions is a companion for the new AutoCAD .NET training material available from the AutoCAD .NET Developer Center. Enjoy! 🙂

  • Wayne Brill, a member of the DevTech Americas team, has been beavering away on a new set of training material for AutoCAD .NET. This material is now live on the AutoCAD Developer Center (the image on the right should help you locate the link). This new material contains information on the following topics: Overview of .NET Plugin Basics User Interaction Database fundamentals Dictionaries User Interface Events InputPoint Monitor Jigs To accompany this material, Wayne has also recorded a set of DevTV sessions, which I'll be serialising over the coming weeks. Here are links to the introduction and the first, getting…

  • Members of the Autodesk Developer Network have been busily uploading videos to the new ADN Partner Channel on YouTube. If you're an Autodesk customer, interested in the breadth of products provided by our partners, then be sure to check it out. If you're an ADN member – and are interested in uploading your own videos to the channel – take a look at the YouTube ADN Channel Starter Guide (login required) that explains the submission process in detail. [This document can be found on the ADN site under the Business & Marketing section.] We're working to include links to these…

  • The recording of the previously announced "AutoCAD 2011 New APIs" webcast held on April 13th, 2010 is now available for download (19.8MB). We've also completed a much-needed restructuring of our online session information. Links to downloads of previously recorded sessions were available via our API training schedule (also available from http://autodesk.com/apitraining –> Schedule). They have now been granted their own, well-deserved page: [You'll notice the recording of the Inventor 2011 New APIs is also live – the Revit 2011 version will be posted soon, as will the one for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 (once the session has been held, of…

  • Once again I'm a little late to the party: Shaan, Volker, Harlan, Brian and Jeremy have all beaten me to it, but perhaps this somewhat later post will be a useful reminder for people. Hopefully, anyway. Our first DevCamps were held in September 2007. We followed them less than a year later with another set of DevCamps in June 2008. After holding these two sets of events so closely together we learned – and heard from attendees – that a better frequency for these events would be every other year. And that's certainly our plan moving forward. Which means we're…

  • You may or may not be aware that my team, DevTech, writes and publishes DevNotes on the ADN website, answers support questions submitted by ADN members using a tool we call DevHelp Online, records DevTV sessions, participates in events known as DevLabs, talks about our upcoming products at DevDays and delivers API training. (Seems like we need to get the branding police to work on that last one. 🙂 So, in keeping with our theme we have started a new activity… I'm proud (and not unamused, which is putting it mildly) to announce our first DevCast. Recorded recently by Stephen…

  • Early last year we introduced the concept of DevLabs and later on, based on their success, we scheduled some more. Well, it's now 2010 and with a new year comes a new API training schedule (which you can also access from the easy-to-remember autodesk.com/apitraining). Here are the DevLabs we currently have scheduled for the coming year, although you'll also find the schedule contains lots of other interesting events open to ADN members and non-members alike. Dates Location Products February 1–5 San Francisco, USA AutoCAD February 8–12 Farnborough, UK AutoCAD and Inventor March 2–4 New Delhi, India Geospatial and AutoCAD Civil…
